Crispify does not collect, track, or sell your personal data. We run no analytics servers, no remote tracking scripts, and no user profiling. Your API keys and summarization history stay strictly on your local device.
1. Single Purpose Declaration
Crispify provides inline AI-powered text simplification, summarization, and de-slopping directly on any webpage upon explicit user selection. It is designed to help readers cut corporate fluff, read faster, and retain critical facts without leaving their current tab.
2. Data Collection & Processing
Crispify collects the absolute minimum data required to function as an inline browser tool:
- No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, browsing histories, search queries, or cookies.
- User-Provided API Keys: When you enter an API key (Groq or Google Gemini), it is stored exclusively in your browser’s local client storage (
chrome.storage.local). Your keys are never transmitted to any server owned or controlled by Crispify. - Highlighted Text Snippets: When you highlight text and trigger a summary via keyboard shortcut, floating action pill, or context menu, that specific text snippet is transmitted directly via HTTPS from your browser to your selected AI provider (Groq or Google Gemini). The text is processed ephemerally solely to generate the summary.
- Offline History: Summaries and word reduction metrics are saved locally in your browser’s storage so you can review or export them. You can wipe your history with a single click in the extension settings at any time.
3. Browser Permissions & Justifications
Crispify requests only the permissions necessary to inspect and transform highlighted text on webpages in Google Chrome:
Required to programmatically inject the inline transformation script and styling elements into the active webpage DOM when you trigger summarization. This allows Crispify to replace the selected text node inline and attach the interactive "Revert" button without reloading the page.
Enables Crispify to inspect and replace selected text on the currently active tab when you explicitly trigger the shortcut or floating pill.
Required to persist your AI provider selection, default transformation mode, API keys, and offline summary history inside chrome.storage.local.
Used to register the "Crispify Selection" option in your right-click context menu for mouse-based activation.
Crispify is an inline reading tool that functions across articles, blogs, research papers, and documentation on any public webpage. Broad host access is necessary for the content script to detect text selection and insert the summarized replacement block on whatever website you choose to browse.
4. Third-Party AI Services
When generating summaries, Crispify communicates directly with the AI endpoint you configure:
- Groq API (https://groq.com): Inference is powered by Groq’s LPU running
openai/gpt-oss-120b. Requests use your own Groq API key subject to Groq’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. - Google Gemini API (https://ai.google.dev): Inference is powered by
gemini-2.0-flash. Requests use your own Google AI Studio key subject to Google APIs Terms of Service.
5. Data Retention & User Controls
You maintain total control over your data:
- You can view your complete past summary log in the extension popup’s "History" tab.
- You can clear all saved summaries with the "Clear History" button in Settings.
- You can remove or replace your API keys at any time.
- Uninstalling the extension immediately wipes all local storage data from your computer.
